HN RockinHorse Ranch is located in Waseca, Saskatchewan just off the Yellowhead
Highway. It is a family operation and it is a very small horse farm.
We wanted to stay true to the foundation of the Quarter horse breed. The
foundation that made the Quarter horse what it is, as the saying goes "the
best cow horse to look through a bridle". The foundation is what
makes these horses so great as they are suited for ranch work, but also much
sought after for their versatility. You can work the ranch with them one
day and the next your child can ride or show them and they will take care of you
children and baby sit each one of them.
We are keeping our herd to a band of
only five broodmares and one stallion. This way were are able to give the
care and attention to each one of the mares and their foals. We like to be
able to have each one of these foals ready to go new homes at weaning, foals
that have the knowledge that only comes from each of them learning to trust
and move forward with confidence by daily handling and grooming.
HN RockinHorse Ranch was started in
August of 2007. It was the year that Howard and Nancy married. Nancy
has been involved with horses all of her life; as a matter of fact there is a
picture of her on at horse at the tender age of 12 months old. Nancy
followed after that passion and started riding at the age of two on her own.
She went to school via horse and buggy in the summer and horse and cutter in the
winter. She learned to harness and drive a team at the young age of 7
years. Then we she reached 8 she joined light horse 4-H and stayed
committed to that till the age of 18. She continued on with showing and
barrel racing until her first marriage that moved her out to B.C. While out
there she was 4-H leader, worked at the track, bred Arabians, Paints and Appaloosas.
She was involved in the show world, training and showing Arabs, Paints, Morgans
and Appaloosas as well as getting her judges card. Nancy continued to do this
until her late husband was stricken with cancer when she had to make the
decission to let most of
her horses and business go; as she needed to be able to care for her late husband as he wished to
stay at home until the cancer claimed his life. So to that end Nancy kept
him home on palliative care for 10 years. After his passing Nancy
decided to moved back to her roots in Saskatchewan. Once back here she met
an incredible man named Howard Rust, who like her had a love for the Lord and
horses. Howard had always been involved with horses, but had never met
anyone with whom he could share his passion. Now the rest is history!
Howard and Nancy along with Scott
and Krystal (who have life challenges) live on HN RockinHorse Ranch and
devote their time to raising these incredible horses that have
